One of my childhood beachcombing dreams was realized when, as an adult, I actually moved to an exotic place – San Francisco, California. I was astonished to find that sand dollars, which I had thought were rare, are here as common as can be. Whole ones! not just broken pieces! -- tantalize me every time I walk Ocean Beach. They have become a symbol for where I live, and I depict them here as jewels set into watercolor.
